Xircom CompactCard Ethernet 9/10

The
CompactFlash II format has been around for a while. But we are now beginning
to see products that take advantage of it, like this Xircom CompactCard
Ethernet card. It can be used in laptops with the included PCMICA adapter.
However, it's main users will be those who use handheld devices like the
Compaq iPAQ. It only supports 10 Mbit Ethernet, since it is 16 bit card
(rather than a Cardbus card which many handheld PCs like the Compaq iPAQ
do not support). Inspite of this it is still very quick, once you get
it installed.
Unlike
many network cards it is easy to install, even installing it on a PocketPC
iPAQ is easy! Just pop in the CD into your desktop and the setup programme
will guide you through how to install it on the iPAQ. Synchronising your
iPAQ through the Xircom is better than through USB. Not only is it alot
quicker, it works all the time. Trying to sync it through USB does not
seem to work all the time.
This
is one of the few CompactFlash network cards on the market at the moment.
With the iPAQ and other PocketPCs selling well, I can see this card being
a best seller!
