VX900 19 inch 7/10. Date Posted 09/08/2002.

This
Gateway VX900 was one of the first "cheap" 19 inch CRT monitors.
Looking at it, the image is reasonable but not brilliant. Certainly the
screen is noticeably curved, and the text is not as sharp as on new models.
However, at a ground breaking price, I was pleased to have this much monitor
real-estate! It supports very high resolutions. I prefer to run it at
1280x1024, which is considered optimal for this size of screen, at a refresh
rate of 85 Hz.
Being
an early model, it is simply huge, and requires a large space on your
desk (as well as very strong one at that!). It is suited to all sorts
of different applications. Running games with such a large monitor is
great fun. Certainly it is here that it excels, given the lack of text
in games. If such a model comes up as a second hand model, this model
makes a decent buy if you are not too fussed about crisp text, like playing
games, and want a large screen. Just don't pay to much for it.
